Cool website: Groupon

Going along with my previous post about how to use coupon codes to save, I recently signed up for Groupon. Here’s an overview of how it works, for those who aren’t familiar with the site… Groupon negotiates huge discounts—usually 50-90% off—with popular businesses. We send the deals to thousands of subscribers in our free daily email, and we send the businesses a ton of new customers. That’s the Groupon magic. There are a few areas around me that I can browse for getting deals: New York, Philadelphia, Allentown, North and Central Jersey. One recent deal for New York was for a restaurant, offering 50% off of their fondue appetizer, which looked really yummy. Once you sign up (which is free), you basically purchase any discount/deal on the Groupon website that appeals to you, print out the voucher and bring it in to the establishment to get your discount. With their mobile app, you don’t even have to print the coupon: just open the coupon/deal on your phone and show it to the people at the establishment. Simple savings. :D Disclosure: This is a semi-sponsored post. I am not being directly paid for this post, just for referrals for anyone who is interested in signing up. I wanted to share because I think this is a pretty cool idea. Groupon essentially takes advantage of the power of bulk discounts/group purchasing power. Signing up is free and there is no obligation to purchase anything. I haven’t so far, I’ve just browsed offers and will purchase something when I see something I really like. So far, there are a lot of interesting choices to choose from!
